Valerie J. Englebert, 69, Green Bay, passed away early Saturday morning, May 20, 2023, surrounded by family at home. She was born September 13, 1953, in Green Bay, and is the daughter of the late Tony and Elizabeth Kowalczyk. As a child, she was raised on the family farm in Morgan, WI and later moved to Krakow, WI. She is a graduate of Pulaski High School, Class of 1971. Val married Wayne Englebert on September 5, 1980, at St. Bernard Catholic Church. She was a dedicated wife and mother, always putting her family’s needs first. She also was a supportive “dance” mother. She worked at Wisconsin Public Service for many years, retiring in 2017. Val will be remembered for her lifelong passion of training and riding horses. She shared her love for horses with her family and friends, cherishing her time camping and trail riding. She enjoyed spending her time outdoors and working at the barn, caring for her many horses. Val often participated in horse clubs, parades, and horse shows. Val was most proud of her family and adored her grandson, Marvin.
Valerie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Wayne and their two daughters, Nicole (Reuben) Quillen, Savage, MN and Natalie (Steve) Marcelle, Green Bay; one grandson, Marvin Marcelle; siblings, Ken (Chris) Kowalczyk, Sierra Vista, AZ, Ambrose (Nancy) Kowalczyk, Green Bay, Sharon VonHaden, Green Bay, and Pam (Ross) Berkhahn, Bonduel; sister-in-law, Fern Kowalczyk, Martinez, GA; Wayne's siblings, Ken (Mary) Englebert, Green Bay, Paul (Carla) Englebert, Sturgeon Bay, Lois (Lee “Augie”) Derenne, Luxemburg, Jane (Paul) Shefchik , Sturgeon Bay, and Kathy (Lyle) Jandrin, Luxemburg; sister-in-law, Paula Englebert, Sturgeon Bay; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Rebecca Englebert; parents, Tony and Elizabeth Kowalczyk; brothers, Alexander, Eugene, Vernon and Dennis Kowalczyk; father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Mercedes Englebert; and Wayne's brother, Pat Englebert.
Visitation at St. Philip The Apostle Church, 312 Victoria St., Green Bay, WI, Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 10:30 am. Memorial mass will follow at 11:30 am.
The family extends a special thank you to Green Bay Oncology, St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice. The family would also like to thank family and friends for their compassionate support.
