Tina Gau

August 6, 1963 — May 26, 2026

Tina Gau, 62, of Brussels, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, after a nearly 10-year battle with cancer.

Growing up in both the Algoma and Brussels areas, Tina lived life with strength, determination, and a deep love for her family. She enjoyed horses, motorcycles, and fast cars, and found happiness in gardening, painting garden décor, camping, and traveling. Some of her favorite memories were made while exploring different cities and countries with her children and spending time with family on cruises and camping trips.

On July 4, 1996, Tina married Greg Gau, and together they shared 29 years of marriage while raising their five children together. Tina spent many years working as a beautician and in haircare, where she enjoyed building relationships with her clients.

Tina treasured her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Greg Gau; her children, Jeremy Valentine (Kelly), Justin Valentine (Kelsey), Trevor Gau (Emily), Summer Delwiche (Wyatt), and Hunter Gau (Peyton); her mother, Nancy Gigstead; and her beloved grandchildren, Hailey, Oliver, Elizabeth, Carter, Asher, Callie, and Briggs.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Gigstead; her sister, Lorrie Gigstead; her grandparents, Lawrence and Helen Gigstead, and Bob and Helen Zephirin; and her in-laws, Patricia Gau, Kenneth Gau, Mark Gau, and Shawn Gau.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 5, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Algoma Boat Club.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and care team at Aurora Hospice for their compassion, care, and support throughout Tina’s journey.

In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, the family kindly asks that a tree be planted in Tina’s memory in your local community in honor of her love for nature and gardening.
