Shea B. Gorzelanczyk

February 19, 1975 — May 1, 2026

Shea Gorzelanczyk, 51, of Green Bay, passed away on May 1, 2026, after a six-month battle with brain cancer.

Born on February 19, 1975, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Shea lived a life defined by curiosity, adventure, kindness, and devotion to the people he loved. Even throughout his illness, he remained eager to make others laugh and to get out and enjoy life despite his challenges. His sister-in-law once reflected that Shea was "the only person I've ever met who got sweeter when he got cancer."

Shea met the love of his life, Melissa, through mutual friends at Jake's Pizza. Together over the next 23 years, they built a life filled with love, laughter, music, travel, beauty, and adventure. One of their shared passions was following their favorite band, Lord Huron. Over the years, they traveled to see them perform nine times, creating memories that Melissa will always treasure.

A lifelong learner and natural problem-solver, Shea seemed capable of figuring out almost anything. If he didn't know how to do something, he would teach himself. His curiosity led him down countless strange trails, including one extraordinary adventure in 2010 when he discovered a meteorite in a farmer's field near Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Today, that meteorite resides in the University of Wisconsin Geology Museum, a lasting reminder of his love of exploration.

Shea also found joy in traveling and playing Magic: The Gathering. He and Melissa cherished time spent at their artist retreat home on the meadow. A talented musician, Shea played mandolin, violin, and bass guitar, and he loved to sing.

Professionally, Shea dedicated 25 years to AT&T, where he earned the respect of colleagues throughout the organization. In his final role as Chief of Staff, he was known for his leadership and character. Upon learning of his passing, his boss described him as "truly irreplaceable." Those closest to Shea could not agree more.

Above all else, Shea was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Melissa; his children, Athena and Owen (Madisen); his stepson, Avery (Rachael) Herr; his brother, Shel (Sherri), and their three children, Bryce, Brock, and Cali; his parents, Doug and Kathy; his parents-in-law, Rick and Dawn Jones; his sisters- and brother-in-law, Crystal (Jason) Gellin, Joshua (Stef) Jones, Tasha Novak, Emily (JB) Shicks, and Laura (Paul) VanderKelen; all their children, respectively, Hayden, Laith, Corynn, Aleyna, Gavin, Ryder, Ledger, Barrick, Gabriel, Lucy, Ari, Brantley, and Kinlee; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors, and colleagues whose lives were made better by knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and other loved ones.

A Lord-Huron-themed Celebration of Life honoring Shea will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Green Bay Distillery. All who knew and loved Shea are welcome to join his family. Coffee, pastries from Uncle Mike's Bake Shoppe, and lunch will be provided.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes cards, written memories, and expressions of sympathy. More than anything, they invite those impacted by Shea to come together and celebrate his remarkable life.
