Shawn "Swantz" Patrick McKindles, Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025 after a long illness at Door County Medical Center. Shawn was born August 1, 1963 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He graduated high school from JFK Prep, St. Nazianz.He was in the US Army from 1983-1985. He completed basic training at Fort Dix, NJ and was stationed in Texas. He drove truck for the Army in Honduras. After the Army, he went on to drive truck for his father's company in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Later in the early 90s, he moved to Door County, Wisconsin where he made his forever home. He worked for ApplePort Builders of Sister Bay. "Hindy" took him under his wing and taught him to love carpentry. Shawn then went on his own called "Fine Carpentry" and furniture making became his passion. Shawn had many, many wonderful friends. He loved "The Office" and "The Boys Club." He would always be happy to help out a friend in need to fix anything. He would always say "I'm a Jack of all trades" and he was. Heart of gold, funny, loved his partner, his family, his friends and his dog, Winston. He had a great laugh we will miss forever.He is survived by his life long partner of 30 years, Elizabeth McBride of Sturgeon Bay, his adopted mother, Sally McBride of Baileys Harbor and the entire McBride family. Sister, Ava Frenza (Matt) and nephew, Matt of Arizona; Sister, Erin McKindles-Murto of Green Bay and nieces Kendall, Leah and nephew ReiJo; Sister KC Rokstad (Jeff) of Idaho and niece Devon and nephew Riley.He was preceded in death by his parents, Delores and Patrick McKindles and grandpa Van.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Door Cancer, Inc and the nursing staff and doctors at Door County Medical Center and St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay for their care for Shawn.
