Green Bay

Ronald “Ron” Phillip Seehafer, age 84 of Green Bay, passed away on June 17, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ron was born to Wilford and Marie Seehafer on March 5, 1942 in Wausau, Wisconsin. He joined the Navy in 1959 and served aboard the USS Tanner. Ron was proud of his status as an Atomic Veteran. His nickname in the Navy was Seadog which still lives on.

After four years and an honorable discharge, he moved to Green Bay, where he met his wife, Mary Verdegan. The couple married on March 30, 1968 and had two children. Ron was employed as an electrician at James River where he met numerous life- long friends. His work ethic was unmatched and admirable.

Always a family man, his family meant the world to him and him to them. Ron was always there for his wife, children and grandchildren. His children knew he was always a phone call or text away if they needed him. He was a proud grandpa and ever present at his grandchildren’s events. After retiring, Ron and Mary enjoyed traveling across the country.

When life was easy he was there, when tough times occurred he was there. When his wife got sick, he cared for her without ever complaining or asking for help.

Ron enjoyed camping, fishing, trap shooting, trivia, music and spending time with family and friends. On Wednesdays, he met with his retired friends at Oak Street Cafe for breakfast and in the afternoon with another group of retirees for a few beers and laughs at Chambers.

Later in life, Ron found someone new to share his kindness, love and life with, “ My Sweet Maria”. The couple enjoyed traveling and visited, Colombia, Canada, Hawaii and Florida. They always looked forward to their yearly summer trip to cabins in the north woods.

Ronald is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Brian) Brost; son, Troy Seehafer; sister, Rozann Roberts; partner, Maria Derouin; step-sister, Ginger; grandchildren, Carter, Jessica (Michael), Logan (Santanna), and Penny (Chase). He is further survived by nieces, Christine (Dave), Tonia (Andrew), Jennifer (Steve); nephews, Jeff and Matt; his Aunt Joan Seehafer; numerous relatives, and friends; and his dog, Joey.

He was presided in death by his beloved wife, Mary; parents; step-father; step mother; father-in-law; mother-in-law; two brothers-in-law; two step-sisters; and many relatives and friends.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Bellin Cancer Center and Unity Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. A huge thanks to Maria for standing by his side throughout his health struggles and being a wonderful caregiver to him.

Dad- thanks for not only being our father but one of our best friends. Your love, sense of humor and generosity will be sorely missed. Fly high until we meet again!
