Ronald Marlin Kraase

December 16, 1934 — October 25, 2023

Born December 16, 1934. Passed to eternal life October 25, 2023.

Ronald the son of Walter and Celia and older brother to the late Clifford Kraase, was born and raised in the Milwaukee area and lived in his childhood home for almost 80 years before moving to Sturgeon Bay to live on the lake.

He graduated from Luther College and went on to work as an engineer at WISN radio. He later went back to school to obtain his teaching certification and went on to teach math in the Elmbrook School District for 37 years. He continued his love of audiovisual arts by working with his students videoing school events and producing a daily news broadcast.

He married Karen in 1972 and they spent 50 years together. He was an avid fisherman and expanded this love of being on the water to sailing and boating. He enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren fishing and water skiing. He began taking classes with the United States Power Squadron learning about boating practices and navigation.  He achieved the rank of district commander in this organization. He continued to work with the squadron and the DNR to promote and educate both adults and children on safe boating practices. Later in life he enjoyed traveling with family, walking around the point, and always had time to stop and talk to other neighbors he would meet.

Ron is survived by family he loved and was so proud of: his wife, Karen Kraase, son, Christopher (Jenny) Kraase, daughter, Carrie (Jay) Swanson, grandchildren, Tyler (Megan) Kraase, Caleb Kraase, Ryan Swanson, Joshua Swanson, Kendall Swanson, great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Liberty, Ardyn, and Malyk, and nephews and nieces, Genny Kilpatrick, Jeff (Ann) Kraase, Amy (Alan) Gilgenbach, Randy Tretow, Shari (Jason) Roos, as well as other relatives and friends.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal service will be held. Immediate family will gather in private.
