Rodrick Craig Wedel (61) of Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin passed tragically from this life into the next on July 17th, 2020 at St Vincent Hospital Green Bay WI.
Rodrick was born January 25, 1959, in Madison, WI to parents, Karen Ann Fels Ebbeson And Gordon Frank Wedel. He graduated from Kettle Moraine High School, and attended UW Green Bay.
Rod worked for 3 different caregiver agencies in Door County as a Personal Caregiver and was an active member of his community. Rod attended Hope United Church of Christ in Sturgeon Bay and was an active member of the church and other community activities sponsored by the church. Additionally, Rod was actively involved and took great pleasure in sharing his goods and expertise in the Door County Memorial Hospital Community Garden for Diabetics. He was an active skier, biker, camper and enjoyed time spent at the gym. He was a supportive family member and could often be found looking for ways to be helpful. He will be greatly missed by all those his life touched.
Rod's greatest personal struggle was his lifetime struggle with Junvenile-onset Diabetes. Rod worked very hard to manage his life while taking good care of his health.
Rod is survived by parents: Karen Ann Fels Ebbeson and James Otto Ebbeson, Gordon Frank Wedel and Margot Murray Wedel; His siblings: Terry Lynn Seidl (John), Michelle Marie Bowerman (Gene) Kimberly Dorothy Wedel Knaup (Timothy); Step Siblings Christy (Ebbeson) Kurtz (Jon) Frida (Ebbeson) Kumar, Erika Ebbeson, Jeffrey Ebbeson, Andy Masek (Amy), Laurel (Masek) Hunter (Jeff), and Kevin Masek. He was surrounded with many living nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Elwin and Alene Fels, Frank Wedel and Dorothy Thayer, along with uncles Gene Wisner and Craig Fels.
Funeral arrangements due to Covid will be a restricted burial service on July 27, 2020 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo Wisconsin. We will celebrate Rod's life at a later date at Hope United Church of Christ Sturgeon Bay. Donations may be made in honor of Rod's life to The American Diabetes Association or Hope United Church of Christ-SB.
