Rodney Henry Carlson, 95, of Chassell, MI passed away on September 1, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Rod was born on May 13, 1930 to Lydia (Maki) and Henry Carlson in Ishpeming, MI. He served in the USAF during the Korean War and upon his return earned his Electrical Engineering degree from Michigan Tech. He worked for Upper Peninsula Power Company working his way up to VP of Operations at the time of his retirement. He loved spending time with family, playing with their Springer Spaniels, and swinging a golf club whenever he could. Rod had a quick wit, sense of humor, and a positive disposition all throughout his life. After his wife’s passing, Rod and his beloved dog, Jake, resided with his son and wife Dan and Kathleen in Suamico, WI.

Rod married the love of his life, Alice Carol Heikkinen on June 11, 1955, and together they shared 67 years of memories together. He was the proud father of two boys: Dan and Brian.

Rod is survived by his son Dan (Kathleen) of Suamico, WI, and daughter-in-law Kim Carlson of Hudsonville, MI. His legacy continues to live through his grandchildren: Eric Carlson (Samantha), Kaleigh Carlson, Abigail Carlson, Laura Michaels (Graham), Elizabeth Carlson (Raphael Stulz), Matthew Carlson, and Anya Carlson (Nick Gasser) and his great grandchildren: Lenora, Eloise and Calvin. Rod was preceded in death by his wife Carol, son Brian, and parents Lydia & Henry.

A special thank you to Unity Hospice and especially the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence for their exceptional care they gave to Rod and our family these last weeks of Rod’s life.
