Robert Douglas McNeil

Robert Douglas McNeil, 88, of Sturgeon Bay, WI, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015. He was born on April 27, 1926 in Streator, IL, the son of the late Imogene (Lager) and John Douglas McNeil.

Bob grew up in Streator, IL and graduated from Streator High School in 1944. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1950 with a degree in Business.

Bob married Jo Ann Baysinger in Streator, IL, on June 27, 1948. They were happily married for 66 years during which they raised Deb, Scott and Laurie. They later moved to Urbana, IL and retired to Sturgeon Bay, WI, where they have lived for 29 years. Bob enjoyed a career in athletic equipment sales. He and Jo especially appreciated the adventure of travel.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jo; and three children, Deb Burian and her husband, Jon of Farmington, CT; Scott McNeil of Langley, WA; and Laurie McNeil of Mt. Horeb, WI; five grandchildren and their spouses, Emmy and Brian Atwood, Reed McNeil, Kate and Patrick Chase, Sarah and Brook Bishop, and Gabe McNeil, and four great-grandchildren, Naomi and Reed Atwood and Nathan and Connor Chase.

Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Jack McNeil and sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Ann McNeil Lutz and LeRoy Lutz.

A memorial service will be held for the family at a later date.
