Richard Warren Spofford

November 27, 1935 — November 13, 2014

Richard “Dick” Warren Spofford, 78, met his maker on November 13th, 2014. Born on November 27, 1935, to Alden Ambrose and Lillian (Couillard Mineau) Spofford, he was a lifelong resident of Green Bay. Dick retired from Schneider Transport after 38 years of driving truck. Dick was also a Korean War Veteran, United States Air Force.

On August 20th, 1955, he married Carole Ann Thibault. They were married for 59 years and had 8 children. Dick was a loving husband and father, and he was all about family. He spent many summers camping with the kids, and enjoyed backyard get-togethers, Sunday Dinners, Packer Game parties, picnics in the park, and a game of baseball with the kids and grandkids. Family vacations, and later in life, vacations with Carole, held memories he treasured. In his later years, Dick enjoyed bowling with his senior buds. Folks in his senior community loved and respected Dick.

Dick is survived by his wife, Carole; eight children, Cynthia (David) Nielsen, Eric Spofford, Sharon Spofford (Andrew Palmer), Mary Nelson, Susan Spofford, Amy Garrity, Jonathan Spofford, and Rosemarie (Christopher) Nelson; grandchildren, Stephanie Nielsen, Benjamin (Kim) Nielsen, Michael (Liz) Bartz, Warren (Briana) Bartz, Matthew Brewer, Emily Brewer, Joshua Nelson, Kateri Brei, Zachary Ebeling, Nicholas Ebeling, Blake Spofford, Brock Spofford, Thomas Spofford, Travis Waarala, Jesse Garrity, Amber-Rose (Sean) Nelson, Tyler-Christopher Nelson; and 12 great grandchildren.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Alden Spofford and Lillian Spofford; one brother, Alden Spofford Jr.; one sister, Joan Casagranda; grandparents, Virginia and Warren Spofford; in-laws, Harold and Lillian Thibault; and a great grandchild, Honesty Grace Henderson.

A private family memorial service was arranged through Simply Cremation, 431-0100.

The family would like to thank Unity Hospice - especially Dana, for their help and support. The children would like to give a big shout out to Benjamin, Stephanie and Cindy Nielsen, you were awesome. We know Dad appreciated being able to be at home! Also, 8 kids, station wagon, McDonald's parking lot, shared burgers, fries and shakes, Thank you dad :)
