Richard A. Gigstead

Richard A Gigstead (78) of Algoma, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side; January 22, 2022.

He was born February 27,1943 in Sturgeon Bay. Son of late Helen and Lawrence Gigstead. Richard married the love of his life Nancy (Zephirin) October 27, 1962 at Saint Francis - Saint Mary Church, Brussels Wisconsin. They shared 59 years of marriage.

Richard was an avid collector of all things, especially anything with a motor. He enjoyed boating, riding motorcycle, driving stock car, camping, gardening, cutting his lawn and spending time with his family. After retiring from the Boilermakers Local 107, Richard and Nancy spent their winter months in Florida riding motorcycle and enjoying time with friends. Richard always had a special way of bringing joy to every conversation with his sense of humor.

Richard will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife, Nancy; four children, Tina (Greg) Gau, Robie, Dana (Brian), Jimmer (Chantel); grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelly) Valentine, Justin Valentine, Samantha (Brian) DeGrave, Remington Gigstead(Angelica), Raeann Gigstead, Trevor Gau (Emily), Summer Gau (Wyatt), Hunter Gau; great-grandchildren, Brody, Elizabeth, Carter, Brennen, Eri, Hailey & Oliver; sister, Shirley (Dennis) Walters.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Lorrie Jean Gigstead; Parents, Helen and Lawrence; brothers, David and Billy; in-laws, Robert & Helen Zephirin, and sister-in-law, Jeannie (Maurise) LuMaye.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Aurora Hospice and granddaughter Samantha for making it possible for Richard to live out his last weeks in the comfort of his home.

No service will be held per Richard’s request. Richard said, “If they couldn’t see me alive, they don’t need to see me when I’m gone.”
