Richard Doyle, 77, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, after a brief illness following a years-long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born to Philip and Agnes (Kuchnowski) Doyle and was a lifelong resident of Pulaski.
After High School, Dick graduated from NWTC and then joined the Navy, serving a 4-year term with honor. Following the Navy, he worked his entire career as a machinist at Beamis Manufacturing Company, Lindquist Machine Corporation, and S&M Tool and Production. His work was exemplary, and he often received commendations for his precision. For all of that, his proudest achievements were his two children, whom he loved more than anything.
He leaves behind his wife of almost 25 years, Doreen (Smith) Doyle, beloved children, son Andrew Doyle and daughter Sarah (Scot) Zellner, grandsons Jaxson, Joaquin, Cole, and Wyatt, god-daughters Michaela and Olivia Robertson, siblings Tom (Patricia) Doyle, Dan (Christine) Doyle, and Pat (Norb) Sojka, many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and neighbors.
Dick loved to fish and hunt, first with his father and uncles, then with his children, and his much-loved nephew Ben Feldhausen.
The family would like to express deepest gratitude to the staff at Bellin hospital ER and ICU for their care, compassion, and dedication, ThedaCare At Home RN Sabrina and CNA Heather, volunteer Celeste, and chaplain Sam who had become so important to him. Special thanks to his longtime primary care physician Dr. Paul Scott.
A very special thank you to Chadwick Goetsch for his home care, true affection for, and devotion to Dick these last few years. Also, to Claudette Goetsch for her love and affection, shopping, cooking, and great haircuts. Doreen would also like to thank Dan and Ellen Prickril, Sharon Zima, and Ruth Brabant for supporting her all these years with food, laughter, respite care, and friendship. The true value of a friend is immeasurable.
Our hearts may be broken now, but we were loved so well and for so long that we will take comfort in that until we are together again.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Agnes Doyle, Uncles Robert Kuchnowski and Fred Doyle, father-in-law and mother-in-law Raoul Derek Smith and Jocarol (Arcidiacono) Smith, childhood best friend Gary Gajewski, and Navy buddy Alex Bedoya.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to your favorite charity in Richard's name, and/or prayers for healing from the grief of his loss.
Family and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Life on September 7 at the American Legion hall in Pulaski. Visitation begins at 9:30 with the service starting at 11:00. Military Honors and lunch to follow.
Interment of his ashes will take place at a later date.
