Penny Dart

September 6, 1955 — July 9, 2025

Penelope “Penny” Florence (Nimmer) Dart, 69, passed away peacefully at her home in Allouez, Wisconsin, on July 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. While cut short by cancer, Penny’s life was lived fully, with a passion that made every moment count. She turned every day into an adventure, inspiring those around her to appreciate the little things in life. Her strength, generosity, and bold spirit left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Penny was the second of six children, born September 6, 1955, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to the late Ramon and Cynthia (Kennedy) Nimmer. She shared a deep bond, quick wit, and endless laughs with her siblings—Susan Wollwage (Rick), Cindy Brzezinski (late Denny), Ramon Nimmer, Terry Nimmer (Kim), and Jerry Nimmer (Kathy). Raised in Kewaunee, Wisconsin, Penny graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1973. A lifelong learner, she earned her associate’s degree in 2007.

In 1980, Penny married her husband of nearly 45 years, Harlan Dart, and together they built a loving family. The couple shared a passion for the outdoors, enjoying camping, hiking, biking, and kayaking together. Penny was incredibly proud of their two daughters, Amber Schroeder (John) and April Larsen (Ken), and over the years the family was blessed with six beautiful grandchildren: Max, Stella, Hattie, Gus, Nora, and Harrison, whom Penny adored and whom adored her.

Throughout her life, Penny’s work ethic was unmatched, often holding multiple jobs at once. She retired in 2021 from St. Matthews Parish in Allouez, where she wore many hats for nearly three decades as business administrator and dear friend to so many. She also proudly served her community as an Allouez Village Trustee for four terms.

One of Penny’s greatest joys was traveling the world with her group of close friends, known affectionately as “The Goddesses.” Together, they hiked the ancient trails of Machu Picchu and sand-surfed in Peru, slept on an open-air boat floating down the Nile River in Egypt, rode a toboggan down the Great Wall of China, celebrated Diwali in India, and even got matching lobster tattoos in Maine last year.

At home, Penny was a gifted cook and avid gardener, and was known for graciously feeding family, friends, and various wildlife in her beautiful backyard. Penny loved being a Nanna, and was simply one of the best. Her grandchildren will forever carry with them her creativity and artistic talents, love of playing cards and games, contagious sense of fun, and good humor.

Penny’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched. She was a woman of great strength and deep love. Her memory will be cherished forever.

All who knew and loved Penny are invited to join in remembering the incredible woman she was during a celebration of her life to be held at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025, the day after what would have been her 70th birthday. Friends and family are invited to gather at 11:00 am, with a service at 12:30 pm.
