Peggy Maloney Barrett passed peacefully on Aug 6, 2025.

Peggy was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on January 1,1930 to Solon Roy Maloney and Gladys Glen Peters.

Peggy loved attending school and academics, especially history and math. She belonged to the National Honor Society and was valedictorian of her 1946 class at Lincoln High School in Milwaukee.

Peggy attended the Shorewood High School Senior Prom with the man who would eventually become her husband, tool and die maker and artist, Philip Stock. They married in 1952, had two children, Kim and Philip Jr. and lived in Shorewood, WI. Peggy worked in the billing department at Schuster’s Department Store in Milwaukee before retiring to stay home with her children. She was famed for her baking and sweet treats, especially her tortes, cakes, lemon bars, and her incredible toffee. Peggy and Philip were known for their backyard pool parties and festive New Year’s Eve parties they gave for friends and family for more than ten years.

Peggy served on the Lake Bluff PTA, co-edited the Listening Post PTA newspaper, and was leader of her daughter’s Girl Scout troop. An active member of the Shorewood Junior Women’s Club, she served as hospitality chair, parliamentarian, second vice president, first vice president, and president over the years. She took pride in serving her community in these positions via charity drives, auctions, civic engagement, service projects, community luncheons, and fund raising for Cancer research, disabled children, the Arthritis Foundation, and other local entities. Peggy was the national convention chairwoman for the Shorewood Juniors when the General Federation of Women’s Clubs convened in Milwaukee in 1964. The Shorewood Juniors won two Washington Honor Medals during her time as an officer. Peggy was also a member of the Wisconsin Federation of Garden Clubs, Suburban Shores Garden Club, and was historian for the Fifth District Federation Garden Clubs. She enjoyed entering flower shows, making floral arrangements, gardening, and participating in community events.

In 1966 Peggy earned her Real Estate Broker’s license and worked at Barrett Realty until 1977. She married Jay Barrett Jr. in December 1977. Together, they retired, bought a winter home in Palm Desert, California, and traveled the country and the world playing golf, seeing shows, and having adventures. Peggy and Jay enjoyed having company in Palm Desert, gave may dinner parties, and loved hosting their families and grandchildren.

Peggy loved to travel and experience new places. For a month, she worked as a nanny in Australia. She spoke often of her trip to New Zealand as the most beautiful place she had ever seen. She also traveled to Ireland and enjoyed many trips centered around playing at many golf courses domestically and abroad. She was an excellent golfer, and made a Hole-in-One at Ozaukee Country Club and one at Ye Olde Florida Golf Club in Naples, Florida,

Peggy enjoyed reading, travel, playing and bridge, telling stories, listening to music, and exhibiting her video poker prowess, winning several slot tournaments in Las Vegas. She loved to spend time with her family, especially attending holiday parties, Thanksgiving crafting, and enjoying the beauty of the Northwoods at a family vacation home. Her unique stories, infectious laugh, positive attitude, openness to excitement, and tender love of her family will be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Kimberly (James), granddaughters Adrienne (Derrick), Morgan (Andrew), and great granddaughters, Ivy and Zoe.

Her family would like to thank the staff at New Perspective in Howard, WI and Moments Hospice for the kind care they provided to Peggy.
