Jackie Sawyer, 83, a recent resident of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and lifelong Alabama native, passed from this earth on May 21, 2025. She committed her life to supporting her family, children, and grandchildren. She was an avid NFL and NBA sports fan, often watching multiple games on multiple tv’s at once, long before satellite and cable were an option. She loved talking sports, including Alabama Crimson Tide Football, to anyone who was nearby. She fiercely loved her grandchildren and made sure they knew how much they were treasured.
Jackie was born in Mobile, Alabama, on January 20, 1942, to parents F.G. "Billy" and Sadie Hill Hicks. She finished high school and later married her middle school crush, Robert "Jack" Sawyer, in 1963. They moved to Houston County Alabama, where they lived for the next 45 years and raised their family.
Jackie worked in several roles during her life. She was a legal secretary, bank teller, and credit specialist. Her primary roles were homemaker, bookkeeper, and financial manager for the family’s rental properties and farm.
Jackie is survived by her children, Sharon (Steve) Cureton; David (Teresa) Sawyer; sister, Elaine (Wayne) Wood; her brother, Frank (Madalyn) Hicks; grandchildren Grant and Chase Cureton, Jackson Sawyer, and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents; and aunts and uncles.
A celebration of Jackie’s life will take place later this summer in Daphne, Alabama. Family and friends will share memories and stories ensuring her legacy of love and support continues for generations to come.
