Michael "Mike" Sonesen

August 19, 1943 — March 14, 2024

Michael “Mike” Sonesen, 80, of Gillett, Wisconsin passed away at St. Mary’s hospital in Green Bay March 14, 2024. Mike is survived by his wife Sandy, son Josh Sonesen (Dani) of Stiles, daughter Erika Rietveld (Peter) and grandson Jameson Rietveld of De Pere, and brother Lloyd Brown of Barron.

Mike was born in Wyoming in 1943. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. His strong belief in serving his country and his community paved the way for Mike to become a police officer for a number of years. Mike’s adventurous spirit led him to compete in many rodeos riding bulls.

Mike loved to be outdoors in nature and passed this passion on to his children. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as spending time gardening with his wife. Mike was an artist, spending many hours drawing and painting. He loved to share his art with his family, his friends, and anyone who appreciated his work. Mike also enjoyed playing video games with his grandson, teaching him you are never too old to have fun.

Family and friends will be invited to celebrate Mike’s life at a later date.
