Melody Schieffer

November 7, 1956 — May 11, 2026

Melody Rose Schieffer of Green Bay, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at her home on May 11, 2026.

Melody was born in Long Beach, California on November 7, 1956. She met and later married Matthew Schieffer in Green Bay, Wisconsin on July 8, 1995.

Melody chose not to continue her debilitating oncology treatments. With fierce bravery she would not let cancer dictate or define her anymore. It was ‘Mel’ who took control of her final journey on her terms.

In her own words:

“This disease in a way was a Blessing. It allowed me to slow down. To smell the roses. To
appreciate the blue sky and God’s beauty. And it’s been here all this time.”
She said it was Hospice that allowed her to be at home supported by people who cared for her
versus the cold clinical absence of touch at a hospital.
And she added:
“I thank God for the Hospice Program.”

Melody found joy and comfort in her large “gorgeous” backyard growing flowers, weeding the vegetable garden and even raising chickens. She taught us that the most beautiful things in life are:

Love, Patience and Joy.
Growth from the smallest seeds.
Her powerful message to SLOW DOWN!
And to appreciate the simple acts of Nature, such as:
A flower blossom.
A morning breeze.
The sound of a robin in a sugar maple tree.

Thank you Mel for your testament and character of grace, dignity and courage! We will forever hold you in our hearts!

Melody is survived by her husband Matt; her mother Karen McPike; her daughter Angela (Roel) Ramirez and their daughters Ryan and Raven (Carson) McCurley; her daughter Amanda (Michael) Schuessler and their children Rachel, Elizabeth, Michael, and Christine (Dali) Medina; and siblings Rick McPike and Theresa McPike.

She is preceded in death by her father Billy McPike.

The family would like to thank the A Team staff of Unity Hospice for going above and beyond in the attention shown to them during the time Melody was in their care.

Melody had recorded a beautiful video testimonial for Unity Hospice last summer. This video can be accessed by searching: m.youtube.com Melody McPike-Schieffer and clicking on "My hospice" under her created playlists.

There will be a private gathering for friends and family at a later date.
