Mardula A. Secord
August 10, 1937 — April 29, 2025
- It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mardula Ann (Dodi) Karwedsky Secord, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 87.
- Dodi was born on August 10, 1937, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, to Arthur and Mardula Karwedsky. She was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, Class of 1955. Throughout her life, Dodi was known for her warmth, her love for her family, and her unwavering devotion to those she held dear. She married the love of her life, Reynolds Secord, in 1955. Their marriage spanned an incredible 69 years. Together, they raised three children, Michelle (Steve) Brenzel of Green Bay, Steven Secord of Punta Gorda, FL, and Kelly (Kevin) Jauquet of Green Bay, WI. Dodi cherished every moment with her family, finding immense joy in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
- Dodi’s legacy will live on through her grandchildren: Andrew Brenzel of Bangkok, Thailand, Jake Brenzel of Onalaska, WI, Heather (Jake) Lenss of Crivitz, WI, Wyatt Rentmeester of Green Bay, WI, and Cassidy Rentmeester-Parent of Green Bay, WI. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Macallen Secord of Green Bay, WI, Briella, Mara, and Otto Lenss of Crivitz, WI, and Henry and Joseph Parent of Green Bay, WI. Dodi is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Green Bay, WI, and Texas, as well as her dear lifelong friend, Jackie Marks, whom she had known since third grade.
- Dodi had a strong work ethic, beginning her career at the Hotel Northland, where she learned the ins and outs of night audits, the switchboard, and the daily operations of the hotel. She later worked for the City of Green Bay-Park and Rec as Director of Pools, and St. Vincent Hospital, making lasting contributions to the community she loved. Dodi and Reynolds shared a lifelong passion for sailing in Door County and the Great Lakes. After
- relocating to Florida, they transitioned to boating on the Gulf Coast, where they continued to make treasured memories together. Dodi also had a creative spirit that came to life through arts and crafts, and she held a special place in her heart for poetry, especially the verses written by her mother. Her quiet strength, tender heart, and deep compassion for others—particularly for baby animals—touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
- Dodi’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate team at Unity Hospice, especially Melissa, Miranda, Kathy, Bri, Jennifer, and Mary. Their care and support were invaluable during this difficult time.
- Dodi was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mardula Karwedsky; her brothers, Robert (Gertie) and Donald Karwedsky; her sister, Fay Sterckx; and her grandson-in-law, Joseph Parent.
