Madhav Ghate

September 3, 1931 — December 7, 2023

Madhav "Baba" Ghate, 92, Green Bay, died peacefully, December 7, 2023, at his home with family at his side. Born September 3, 1931 in Kolhapur, India, the sixth of seven children. Madhav obtained his Masters of Engineering and became a professor of engineering. He married and started a family. After a brief marriage, his wife, son and and infant daughter passed away leaving two small children. Madhav then married his current wife, Prabha, April 30, 1975. Madhav immigrated  to Chicago. One year later, his wife and two daughters joined him.  Here they added one more daughter to the family.  In 1989, the family re-located to Wichita, KS, where he was employed with Boeing for a number of years. Retiring in 1998, the couple moved to Green Bay to be near their daughter, Sumedha and her growing family. In retirement,  he loved being near his family. He will be remembered as a man who always had to be active, a larger than life personality, very outgoing,  enjoyed making his masala chicken and was always up for a good whiskey.

Madhav is survived by his wife, Prabha; three daughters, Sumedha (Paul Oleksy) Ghate, Sumitra Ghate, Sujata (Jeff Sneed) Ghate; grandchildren, Manali, Anjali, Levi, Leela, Samir, and Sonali; and many other relatives and friends, both in this country and in India.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date and will be announced by the family.

Simply Cremation, Green Bay is serving the family. Visit www.simplycremationgb.com to share a condolence with the family.

Baba's family extends a special thank you to all his caregivers, who he thought of as family, especially, Leah Trudell, who he thought of as a daughter.
