We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Lois A. Schleicher of Algoma. She left this world June 17th at Bellin Hospital succumbing to numerous health issues at the age of 77.
Lois was born August 18, 1948 to Nick and Lorna (Dietrich) Bley of Egg Harbor. She graduated from Sevastopol High School and in 1969 married Jim Schleicher. They moved to Oklahoma for a while cause Jim was in the Army. After coming home it took no time at all for them to buy and run the Michigan Club in Algoma. Jim passed in 1976. In 1986 she sold the tavern and started working at the WI Label Co for many years.
Lois is survived by her longtime companion James Vandertie(Pooch), daughter Patty(Tim) Schleicher, Jody (Linda) Vandertie, grandchildren Sam and Nick Wagner(Patty’s boys) Miranda and Miryssa Vandertie(Jody’s girls). Along with her siblings: John(Vicki) Bley, Darrell(Sue) Bley, Judy (Reini deceased) Goeks, Steve(Patsy) Bley, Alvin deceased(Patty) Bley, Brenda(Emmett) VanGorder. There are many brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews in the Bley/Schleicher family but just too many to mention.
Lois was a very compassionate person who treasured spending time with her family. She was always up for a good fishboil. Lois loved going to casinos and auctions on a regular basis with Pooch and meeting up with friends. Eating out often ended their little adventure for the day. She kept in touch with friends and family with her daily phone calls. Many of us are going to miss this!!!!
Friends and family may call at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 30 at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Jacksonport for a short memorial. Please then join us immediately after for a luncheon at Jacksonport Town Hall.
