Leona Grimmett

November 9, 1927 — August 19, 2023

Leona Grimmett, 95, of Green Bay WI, has passed into the hands of God August 19th, 2023. She was a true force of Nature, helpful, kind and generous. She was always there to lend a hand or just be there for you. She truly loved her family, friends and neighbors and fiercely protected them. She will forever be loved and missed.

Leona was born one of ten in DePere, WI during a time when working at home was more necessary than school, though she did go through 8 grades. Her parents, Fred Olson & Margaret (Lenz) Olson proceeded her in death. She married Ray Grimmett December 24, 1955.

No stranger to work, she did farm, mink ranch, fish house, Lindeman Cleaners, and Beernsten's Candy Store as well as DuBois' Formalwear for work. She even once (to the crew's surprise) helped load a shrimp boat in Galveston TX just to help them stay on time!

Leona is survived by her daughter Mary, son Steven, sisters Elsie Long and Carol Brunett as well as sister in-law, Barbara Olson, special niece, MarthaRay (Olson) and husband Dan Richardson. Extended family include Mary Nowaczyk of Trego, Michael Nowaczyk, David Brunett, Rodney and Ned Olson, Lisa and Jeff Long, Terry & Mike Delaney and Randy Jenkins, and Colin and Bruce Nowaczyk.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Grimmett, brothers and sisters, Esther (Dolly) Nowaczyk, Raymond Olson, Donald Olson, Agnes DeLaney, Robert Olson, William Olson, Norbert Olson and nephew, Rick Brunett.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Carol Brunett for helping out with cookie making and special event planning, hauling and toting, and dog sitting. Also many thanks to Eddie and Lynn Muenster, offspring Angie and Brad and father Jerry, for pug presents and pug sleep overs, pug playdates, and all things "pug"!!!! She truly enjoyed the pugs! And The Muenster Family!

Leona requested no funeral service be held and has chosen The Nicolet Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, beside Ray Grimmett, as her final resting place.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating in Leona's name to the Brown County Humane Society or the Pug Rescue of your choice.

In case you were not mentioned above, thank you for being a friend, she will reside in your own precious memories.
