LaNorris Rickey Ward was born on March 30, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away on December 26, 2025. He was the cherished son of Eula Ruffin and Richard Ruffin Jr.

LaNorris grew up in Chicago, IL where he attended Roswell B. Mason Elementary School and later Gage Park High School, graduating in June of 1976. At the age of ten, he was baptized at First Baptist Church in Chicago, a moment that shaped his faith and values throughout his life.

Shortly after graduation, LaNorris entered the United States Army in 1976, beginning a journey of service that reflected his lifelong dedication to helping others.

After completing his military service, LaNorris built a long and meaningful career in both the medical and customer service fields. His compassion, patience, and steady presence touched countless lives, and he was known for treating every person he encountered with dignity and kindness.

LaNorris married Malissa Ward (née McQueen) on December 29, 1984, and together they shared 40 years of marriage and had 2 loving daughters. Their bond was one of love, partnership, and unwavering support.

He leaves to cherish in his memory his devoted wife, Malissa; his son, Xavier Jenkins (Chicago, IL); and his daughters, Xundra Ward (Houston, TX), Dominique McQueen (Green Bay, WI), and Krystle Ward (Green Bay, WI). He is also lovingly remembered by Antoine McQueen (Green Bay, WI) and DeShaun McQueen (Milwaukee, WI), children he helped raise and deeply loved as his own.

LaNorris was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Ora Ward Jr and Henry T. Ward. He is survived by his siblings: Ronald Ward (Peoria, IL), Larry (Tina) Ward (South Holland, IL), and Phylistene Ward (Chicago, IL).

He was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whom he loved with all his heart. LaNorris will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his generosity, and the way he made every person feel seen and valued.
