Lamont Polcyn, 85, of Ellison Bay passed away on December 16, 2025 of natural causes. Lamont was a kind and entertaining role model who loved his family very much.
Lamont was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 11, 1940 to parents Theodore and Helen (nee Saradin) Polcyn. He went on to complete schooling through the 12th grade. In 1964, he married Joyce Reich at Immaculate Conception Church in Chicago. Lamont sent many beautiful love letters to Joyce while he was courting her. When on a sunset cruise on Green Bay, a stranger asked Lamont: "Wow, 60 years of marriage is such a long time, how did you do it?" Lamont paused, thought deeply, and responded: "Patience and bourbon."
Lamont began his adult life in the Air Force, and after spending time in Japan, he returned to the United States to pursue a career in the engineering field. He worked for companies like Brown & Root, Bechtel, and UOP. His last job was in the construction field, where he served as a project manager for Developmore, Inc., working with his son, Todd. In his free time, Lamont enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, cheering on the Chicago Bears and White Sox, and traveling with family.
Lamont is survived by his children, Kurt (Karlie) and Todd; and his grandsons, Ethan and Luke.
He is preceded in death by his mother; aunts and uncles; cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws; his wonderful dog Sage; and his loving wife Joyce.
The family would like to thank the Door County Sheriff Department, family, neighbors, and friends, including Mary and Bruce, and Sheryl and Pastor Jim, for assisting with Lamont.
At Lamont's request, he was cremated and will be honored with a private celebration of life ceremony for him and Joyce. The ceremony will be held on Friday, February 6 at Pavilion Restaurant / Banquet Hall at 577 S Waukegan Road in Northbrook. If you would like to join, please RSVP to Todd (t.polcyn@comcast.net).
