Kathryn Ann Beyer

April 7, 1943 — August 4, 2025

Kathryn Ann Beyer, age 82, of Green Bay, WI, passed away on August 4, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.

Kathy was born on April 7, 1943, in Leopolis, WI, to the late Ivan and Kate (Schoenberger) Brunner. She often shared that she was blessed with a happy, carefree childhood. During her high school years, she was educated by the Franciscan Sisters of the Holy Cross at the Chapel in Robinsonville, WI.

Kathy earned a bachelor's degree in education from UW-Stevens Point and a master's degree from UW-Oshkosh. She taught primary grades, mainly kindergarten, and served as a reading specialist, spending over 40 years in the Green Bay public schools. Kathy enjoyed running into her former students and had a remarkable gift for recognizing kindergarteners even decades later.

On April 15, 1967, Kathy married John Davis Beyer of Shawano, WI, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NV. They shared 39 years together until John’s death in 2007. They raised two daughters, Maggie and Katie, in Green Bay.

Kathy enjoyed spending time in Door County with her husband, family and friends, whether sailing, boating, or at their getaway in Gills Rock. She had many interests, including reading, golfing, walking, shopping, maintaining a beautiful home, and sharing time with those she loved.

She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Beyer and Kathryn (Jed) Astin, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, John and Donald; sister, Joan; brothers-in-law, Merlin Brunner and Steven Beyer; sisters-in-law, Carole Brunner, Phyllis Brunner Goltz, and Shirley Brunner; several close friends; and her treasured poodle, Tulip.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI 54301. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Father Dennis Ryan officiating.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the care, comfort, and support extended to Kathy and her family in her final weeks.
