Karen Georgia

Feb 8, 1946 — Oct 1, 2026

Karen Georgia, age 80, of Crivitz, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 1, 2026.

She was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on February 8, 1946, to the late Isaac and Marie (Renard) Duprey.

She married the love of her life, Lester Georgia, on August 16, 1980. They made their life together in Green Bay for many years, spending every weekend at their place in Crivitz, Wisconsin. They later bought a home in Crivitz to enjoy their retirement together “up nort.”

Karen was a very strong, hardworking woman who spent nearly four decades working as a skilled welder, fabricator, and crew leader at MegTec Systems in De Pere, WI. She could fabricate just about anything out of metal, from pizza cutters to custom campfire cooking setups. If someone needed it, chances are she could build it.

Karen had a deep love of nature and the outdoors. She loved feeding her birds, camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, scrapbooking, treasure hunting at “Goodies” and “Vinnies,” her favorite holiday- Halloween, campfires, and just being outside.

She was a wonderful mother to her five children and a proud grandmother and great grandmother. Karen loved spending time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought so much joy to her life. She treasured every moment spent with them and was incredibly proud of each of them.

Karen was one of a kind, one of the sweetest, most authentic people you could ever meet, and she was never afraid to be herself. She had a wonderful sense of sass and humor that could make anyone’s day brighter and brought laughter wherever she went.

Karen will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 46 years, Lester Georgia; her children, Patrick and Jeffrey VanderMuss, Christina Will, and Fawn Georgia (Brandon); her brothers, Brent and Bruce Duprey; her 12 grandchildren, Zachary, Victoria, Nikitta, Matthew, Noah, Sarena, Ryley, Elliott, Hunter, James, Nicole, and Beverley; her two great-grandchildren, Paisley and Brooklyn; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ricky, Billy, Pat (Jackie), Paul (Nicole), Theresa (Laura) Georgia, and John Greve; many nieces and nephews; and numerous other special family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Marie Duprey; her son, Michael VanderMuss; her brothers, Brian and Wayne Duprey; her beloved mother-in-law, Betty Georgia “Mums”; her sister-in-law, Vicky Greve; and her daughter-in-law, Christine VanderMuss.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents of Rennes Health & Rehab Center Peshtigo West, as well as Unity Hospice, for the kindness, compassion, and care they gave Karen over the years. A special thank you also goes to her husband, Lester (our dad), who never left Mom’s side and always did everything he could to make sure Mom was cared for, comfortable, and able to enjoy the best life possible during her journey. ; her son Jeff, who helped care for her at home; and her special in-home caregivers, Brianna and Shirley, who also helped care for her at home.

A celebration of life honoring Karen will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.
