June Corlett Nyman, 94, formerly of Ishpeming and Houghton, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021 at her home in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
She was born on June 2, 1926 in Ishpeming. After graduation from Ishpeming High School in 1943, she worked for Michigan Bell as a telephone operator for many years, an experience she treasured throughout her life. In 1962, she and her family moved to Houghton. As her family grew up, she began working for Michigan Technological University’s public safety office and enjoyed the responsibility of dispatching area police and fire departments as well as the campus police for more than 20 years.
June was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Bernhardt “Ben” Nyman, who passed in 2013.
She is survived by her loving children Jill (Jim) Botz of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Janet (Richard) Delecke of Rochester, Michigan, Ben Nyman and Melissa Reineke of Davenport, Iowa and Morton, Illinois and Brett (Frieda) Nyman of Frederick, Maryland, grandchildren Lindsey (Nate) Rykal, Kyle (Cayla) Botz, Grant Botz, Hope (Rory) Sackreiter, Richard (Michelle) Delecke III, Brett Nyman, Katherine Nyman, Elizabeth Reineke and 11 great-grandchildren.
June was predeceased by her sister Hope McCormick and is survived by her siblings Dale (Mollie) Corlett of Ishpeming, Jerome Valenti of Ishpeming, Michel Lantz of Englewood, Florida and Paul (Sherry) Valenti of Fairplay, Colorado.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery with Ben.
