John "Jay" Grant

May 12, 1945 — August 31, 2025

John “Jay” Grant, 80, passed away on August 31, 2025.

Jay was born in Racine, Wisconsin, on May 12, 1945, to the late John and Dorothy Grant. On August 5, 1988, he married the love of his life, Carol Kuhnke, and they shared a beautiful journey together.

For 45 years, Jay was the proud owner of Graphic Sign Company in Bayview, Wisconsin. Graphic Sign was affectionately known as the “Cheers” of Bayview, where Jay formed many lifelong friendships.

Jay had a passion for hunting, fishing, golf, and, most of all, spending time with his beloved wife. His love for hunting took him on adventures out west and to South Africa. Jay and Carol cherished many days at their cottage on Little Silver Lake in Wild Rose, a special place built by his dad and treasured by the family for over 60 years.

He was an avid fan of the Packers and season ticket holder for over 35 years. Jay and Carol were long-time members of Hilly Haven Golf Club.

Jay will be dearly missed by his Stalag 13 brothers: Brian, Mark, David, Steve, Randy, Tyler, and the late Bill Fischer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his children, Kerry Grant, Kelly Grant, and Bob (Michelle) Baur; his grandchildren, Blake, Paige, Kaylee, and Tye; his great-grandchildren, Preslee and Walker; his sister-in-law, Karen Young; his nephew, Greg (Jill) Thomas; and many other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jim Thomas; his brother, Rob Grant; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Young.

A celebration of Jay’s life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 27th at Burkel’s One Block Over in Green Bay, WI.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Groteluschen and his team, as well as the staff at St. Vincent Hospital’s 4th and 9th floors and Unity Hospice.
