John Walter Bonham
1941 - 2024
John “Jack” Bonham was born on June 12, 1941. He passed away on March 13, 2024.
Jack (aka Big Jake, Jackson, The Big Guy, and Papa Jack) was born in Cleveland, Ohio to John and Eleanor Bonham. The family moved to Park Ridge, IL when he was a toddler because his father received government orders to run a foundry in Chicago for the war effort.
Inheriting his father's strong work ethic, he enjoyed his career in sales which took him around the country. From his mother, he gained a caring and nurturing side. He enjoyed spending time selecting and preparing food, often making a favorite recipe from his childhood days.
Jack graduated from Main High, Park Ridge. He earned a Bachelors Degree from Bradley University in Peoria, IL.
In 1981, he moved to Shawano where he fell in love with the city, the people and Annie Bonham. He found deep enjoyment in his life near Shawano Lake, including serving the town of Wescott. He was proud of his country and the freedoms America provides.
Jack had various jobs throughout his life in sales in the foundry and safety equipment business. After finishing his working years at WOS Safety in Green Bay, he took great pride in the restoration of his 1941 120 Packard convertible. The red beauty earned numerous awards and was the featured cover story in a national car magazine.
Jack is survived by his wife, Annie, his son, John (Lisa), his brother, Bill (Doris), his grandchildren, Wulf, Annika and Augie, his stepson, Richard (Carole) and his step grandchildren, Kristine and Luke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Donna, his in-laws, Alvin and Evelyn Jorgenson, his stepson, Jeffrey and many friends.
Jack took great comfort in the Bible verse John 3:16. Among the many gospel hymns he loved, his favorite was Amazing Grace.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date.
