Glenda Grace Carter, age 72, of Marquette, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2025.
Born on November 5, 1953, in Mobile, Alabama, Glenda lived a life filled with love, generosity, and devotion to her family—and to the Crimson Tide. On November 24, 1981, she married the love of her life, Paul Saunders Carter, and together they soon made Marquette Michigan their home.
Glenda dedicated most of her career to the Marquette Area Public Schools, caring for children of all ages with patience and kindness. After retiring from MAPS, she continued her calling by working at a daycare near her home. Family was always at the center of her world; she cherished her children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to spend time with them. Her home was a place of warmth, welcome, and unconditional love.
Since Paul’s passing in 2012, Glenda carried his memory with her every day. Their love story was one of devotion and strength, and her family finds comfort knowing they are now reunited.
Glenda is survived by her children: Manny (Jackie) Carter, Jason (Sara) Carter, Larry (Lisa) Carter, Barry Carter, and Heather (Doug) Stacy; grandchildren: Alexis (Ben), Madison (Travis), Cody, Alex, Kailin, Amara, Kyle (Paoli), Isabella, Barrett, Indigo, Caeden, Tyrian, Chadwick, and Grace; and great-grandchildren: Liam and Hailey.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul, and her parents, Joseph Lisenby and Barbara Ann Addy.
A celebration of Glenda’s life will be held at a later date in Marquette, Michigan. She will be laid to rest alongside Paul at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
Her love, laughter, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Roll Tide!
