After graduating from East High School in Green Bay he joined the US Navy and served on the USS Oriskany during the Korean War. Gerald attended UW Stevens Point and later taught Physics and Chemistry at Algoma and Ashwaubenon High Schools where he was dubbed the ‘Greatest teacher ever’ due to his humor and love for teaching.
