Frank Kamil Orla-Bukowski, 71, passed away February 14, 2026, surrounded by family and prayers—lifted up to the Lord and the loving arms of his wife, Julie, who passed away only a year ago. Born August 23, 1954, in Chicago, IL, he was son to Frank W. and Zofia (Jarmulska) Orla-Bukowski, brother to Annamaria, Pia, Izabella, John, and Adam, and a cousin-brother to Irene.
He loved unconditionally, unable to hold a grudge against anyone. Still, in his authentic self, he could be at turns quirky, roguish, and mischievous: more than one story will be retold. Yet Frank made his way to a strong faith and found guidance in the Lord; when making amends, words and emotions rang deep, honest, and true. He appreciated going out with a friend (most recently with Randy), but, most of all, celebrated any chance to spend with the family he made with Julie—Daniel, Joseph, Kaycee, and especially his cherished “grands.” Fullhearted was his cheering (close up or from afar) as those close to him pursued their passions whatever those might be, wherever those might lead. A mostly self-taught automobile mechanic, he spent much of his life over or under a car. Taking pride in his work, there was never a part unidentified or a tool misplaced. Though having lived the first part of his life in Chicago and Cheyenne, he was a convert to the Packers (relapsing towards the Bears or Broncos only when choices narrowed). A constant throughout the decades was the pleasure of listening and dancing to rock, blues, and R&B.
Frank was a fighter all the way, once beating cancer three years ago. He kept his sense of humor, wore his heart on his sleeve, and was present until it was his time. He is survived by his friends, siblings, cousins, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, as well as multiple grand-nieces and nephews—but, above all, by his sons, Daniel Di Orio and Joseph (Kaycee) Di Orio, and grandchildren, Taytum, Maci, Brealee, Joseph (Joey) Jr. Frank’s laughter and love echo within us.
He was preceded in death by his parents, but, most poignantly, by his wife Julie who passed away on February 22, 2025. Frank left us to twirl Julie on Valentine’s Day. In good times and bad, they remained incredible people of faith. No doubt she welcomed him into everlasting love. They are together and free for eternity.
A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
