Frances Jean Frommherz, 73, passed away at home on October 3rd, 2024, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, her beloved husband of 48 years by her side.
Fran was born in Idaho to Joseph and Mary Dudek and in 1958, moved with her family to farm in Redgranite, WI. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1969 and began working at Berlin Office Supply, where she enjoyed driving her motorcycle on the back roads to work and college.
After leaving Berlin Office Supply, Fran began work at Berlin Foundry, where she met her husband, Paul. Along with their three daughters, the family moved to Ripon, WI in the summer of 1985, where Fran worked at Admanco until its closure. In 2016, Fran and Paul retired to Door County, building a new home to next door to their youngest grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Fran was known for her profound love for her family and her passion for gardening. Fran's love of gardening flourished after retirement when she became a Master Gardener, a pursuit that brought her immense joy. She dedicated time to volunteering with the Door County Seed Library, sharing her love for gardening with the community.
Along with her gardens, Fran cultivated love and laughter within her family. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, making them a top priority in her life. Fran shared a special bond with her sister, Annie, often spending hours on the phone discussing life, love, and their mutual passion for gardening. She loved taking walks with her beloved dog, Marley, using these moments to connect with neighbors, fostering a close-knit community. Fran’s handiwork, her crocheted afghans, lovingly crafted with her mother, Mary, remain cherished keepsakes.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit.
Fran is survived by her husband, Paul; daughters Heather Frommherz of Ripon, WI, Sarah Frommherz of Ripon, WI, and Melissa (Jeff) Wojciuk of Forestville, WI; grandchildren Claudia Schabo, Billy Schabo, Marshall Wojciuk, and Engrid Wojciuk; sister Annie Downs; brothers Joe Dudek Jr. and Mike (Cathy) Dudek; and many nieces and nephews. Fran will be laid to rest at St. Mark’s Cemetery in Redgranite, WI, in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Door County Humane Society or Door County Master Gardeners. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Unity Hospice, especially her nurse, Kristen, for their compassionate support and care.
