Earnest Fairchild was born on January 3, 1937 in Paintsville, KY, where he played as a child with his sisters Nita and Billy. During WWII, his mother, and the children moved to Michigan, and eventually settled in Duck Creek, Wisconsin. He roamed Green Bay as a boy; spending summers at the quarries swimming and working on cars.
In 1954, Earnie was drafted into military service. His interest in cars became a career in the US Air Force, where he learned auto body repair at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. He served from July of 1954 to April 1958, and was in reserves until 1962. After his military service, Earnie returned to the Green Bay Area. While visiting his sister, Nita, in Suamico, WI, he met his future wife and mother of his three boys, Yvonne Schiltz.
Earnest loved his work and he loved to fish. He managed and owned several body shops around the Green Bay Area during his career. He also taught auto body work at NWTC for a while. He became a devout christian and enjoyed attending services and bible study groups where he found his closest friends. After he retired, Earnie moved to a small place near Lake Noquebay. He enjoyed the wildlife and fishing until health concerns brought him back to Green Bay where he passed quietly on August 17, 2024 with friends at Grancare Nursing Home.
In passing, Earnest joined his brother, Dallas Sparks, his sisters, Nita (Juanita) Rhoades and Billy Barron, his son Timothy Fairchild, and his friend, Dale Raatz.
He is remembered by nieces, nephews, his sons: Keith and Scott Fairchild, grandsons, and great grandchildren.
