Daniel Montoya

Daniel Montoya, 52, of Wausau, Wisconsin passed peacefully in his sleep on August 21st, 2026 following a brief battle with esophageal cancer.

Daniel was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on September 21st, 1973.

Daniel often liked to spend his free time building model cars, cheering the Minnesota Vikings, and spending time with his family.

Daniel leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He was deeply loved by his life partner Michele (Frans) Wolfe and became a cherished member of the her family. Since 1998, Daniel has shared family holidays, celebrations, milestones, and countless ordinary moments that make life meaningful with his chosen family. His is survived by his biological sister Crystal Montoya, his brother, and his mother. His is survived by his chosen family - his life partner Michele Wolfe; his sister-in-law Tricia (Pat) Williams; his sister-in-law Rebecca Rizuto; his brother-in-law David Frans; his niece Candace Tatro; his nephew Kody McDonald; his niece Kira (Jed) LaFortune.

The family would like to thank the Aspirus palliative team for their care during his last moments and to Sherwin Williams for giving him a great job environment, his coworkers and friendships he made, and Nicole in HR for her quick assistance during our time of grief.

Celebration of life will be held on September 26th at 1121 S 16th Ave, Wausau, WI starting at 2pm.
