Daniel Scott Jaeckels, 63, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away September 9, 2026. Dan came home to his "last home" (as he put it) to be with family in his final weeks here on earth.

Dan was born on November 20, 1962, to Clarence Claude Jaeckels and Betty Jane Handrich in Clintonville, WI. Dan attended the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and received a Bachelors Degree in General Studies in 1996.

Dan served in the army in several states as a combat engineer for six years receiving high honors. He was in the Army Reserves for four years.

Dan worked at Duval Public Schools for twenty eight years retiring in November 2025. He held many different positions. His last was as a Para in the Communication and Social Skills Autism Department.

Dan loved playing board games with the students and DJing the talent shows. The students called him "Mr. J".

Dan "Gooey" as his family called him enjoyed going by his family in Colorado on his winter breaks to ski and spend holidays together and summers in Wisconsin enjoying the lakes.

Dan was never married or had children of his own but truly enjoyed his students at school.

Dan is survived by his brothers: Rodney Noak, Terry Noak, Todd Noak, Kevin Jaeckels (Doris) and sisters, Jackie Beyersdorf (Wesley), Cindy Beyersdorf, Rochelle Nations (Doug) and Tracy McDonough and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank a special friend, roommate, and coworker: Maria Knight for developing a special bond over the years. We would also like to thank Cherry Meadows Hospice of Appleton for deeply caring for him the last few days he was with us.
