Daniel “Doc” James Hallada, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, died peacefully surrounded by his family on October 4, 2025, at the age of 83.
Dan was born on November 22, 1941, in Green Bay, WI, to the late Joseph F (Grace) Hallada and Berdella (Donald) Plouff. He was a graduate of Preble High School Class of 1959 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force.
Dan was a Construction Millwright with the Carpenters and Joiners Union 1056 for 46 years, traveling globally for work. At the end of his career, he was honored to be trainer for the Union Training Center, where he was incredibly proud of the apprentices he worked with and the progress they made. He was incredibly proud of his union membership and his brothers.
Beyond work, Dan was a passionate craftsman and builder. He could often be found in the garage tinkering, fixing, and creating various projects. He loved making toys and furniture for his granddaughters and tending to his garden. When not working outside, Dan enjoyed old movies or a good book from the comfort of his recliner. Dan loved playing cards and had a story for every occasion. Dan proudly grew Boy Scout Troop 603 in Oshkosh to one of the largest in the area developing leadership and life skills in his Scouts.
Those who knew Dan will remember him for his ability to talk to anyone – no matter their age. He was always cracking jokes and making everyone enjoy a hardy laugh. If you were lucky enough to receive a great big bear hug from him, you know there’s nothing else like it out there.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, Olga Hallada; his two children Michelle Kennedy and Jon Hallada, and their mother Jan (Gerald) DePagter, daughter-in-law Kristine (Nathan) Wendricks, son-in-law Sergio (Svetlana) Korchagina; Grandchildren Anna Kennedy and Samantha Kennedy, Arianna, Daniel, Kestic, Marcus and June; brother Larry Hallada and brother-in-law William (Billy) LaBaw; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.
