Dan Timothy Stouffer, 76, of Green Bay, WI, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Green Bay WI. Born September 29, 1948 in South Milwaukee, WI. to Gilmore and Viola Stouffer. Dan was the middle child with older sister Nancy (Stouffer) Smith and younger sister Lory (Stouffer) Labensky. Growing up they spent a good amount of time in the township of Michigamme, MI where Dan would spend most of his time outdoors.
Dan graduated Whitnall High School, in Greenfield, WI in 1966. On September 4th, 1968, he was drafted in the US Army, attended basic training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Upon completion of basic training Dan went to Fort Lewis, Washington to complete his advanced individual training (AIT) once he graduated AIT, he was deployed to South Vietnam on February 8th, 1969. When Dan arrived in Vietnam, he was hand selected to join the E Company 50th Infantry, LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrol).
During Dan’s time in Vietnam with the LRRP’s he went on numerous missions and progressed to be a team leader of Team 11 in Tan An. Dan received his Sergeant stripes in Tan An, Vietnam. Some of the Awards and decorations that Dan received from his tour of duty include the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, 3 Army Commendation Medals, 3 Bronze Stars 1 with the V device for Valor, 3 Air Medals, and a Good conduct medal. Dan returned to the US on February 8th, 1970, where he finished his time in service. Dan worked doing sales after Vietnam, he worked in Waukesha WI and Negaunee, MI for many years until he retired.
After Dan’s time in service, he married Claire Corrine Flasch on May 25th, 1974. They raised two amazing daughters Rebecca and Sara, in a home filled with love. Sara (Joe Moehle) married June of 2001, they have four children Shaun, Madison (Andrew Sanchez), Katelyn, and Jacob and one Grandson Weston Sanchez-Moehle .Becky (Eric Tremelling) married October of 2005; they have a son Landon. Dan was very proud of his daughters and enjoyed knowing and seeing his grandchildren and was so excited to have the opportunity to be a Great Grandpa. Dan was excited about the legacy he is leaving. Very proud of his time as an Army Ranger LRRP and the continued brotherhood and of the beautiful FAMILY he has.
Dan was a quiet, very observant, and smart man. He wore his heart on his sleeve and would love having the opportunity to help anyone out. He loved getting out and doing some shooting, having a BBQ and relaxing with a cold drink. He loved going on road trips with his son in law Joe, especially when going to a military reunion so he could see his "brothers" or up to the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) to see his sister. Dan enjoyed all the family gatherings for the holidays and felt so loved and thankful to be a part of it. Dan loved watching all his family grow into the great people they are today.
Dan was preceded by his wife Claire (Flasch) Stouffer, daughter Rebecca (Stouffer) Tremelling, Mother, Viola (Backes) Stouffer, father, Gilmore Stouffer, sister Lory (Stouffer) Labensky.
Dan leaves behind his older sister Nancy brother in law (Barry) Smith, daughter Sara son in law (Joe) Moehle, son in law (Eric Tremelling), and 5 grandchildren; Shaun Moehle, Madison (Andrew) Sanchez, Katelyn Moehle, Landon Tremeling, and Jacob Moehle, and his Great grandson Weston Sanchez-Moehle.
A burial service is planned for Dan on September 6th 2025, at the Lakeview Cemetery in Michigamme, MI. at 11am. with some fellowship to follow. The family asks that in lieu of flowers make donations to the organization that made a huge impact on Dan, The E 50/ E75 LRRP Rangers.
