Dale Lee Hazelrigg Sr.

Dale Lee Hazelrigg Sr., of Suring, Wisconsin, age 77, took the checkered flag to his Heavenly Father on April 6, 2026, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side.

Dale proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran in the United States Navy aboard the USS H.B. Wilson. After moving to Suring, he became an active member of the local American Legion.

Dale had a lifelong love of racing. A devoted NASCAR fan, he could often be found watching races and sharing his passion with anyone willing to listen—especially Rayna, Dale Jr., and April. He also loved attending local dirt track races whenever he could. One of his favorite stories to tell was about a race in Washington, where he competed against his sons, Dale Jr. and David. Although David’s car wasn’t able to run that night, Dale still raced Jr.—and even in his 60s, he showed his sons how it was done. He took the lead, spun Jr. out, and crossed the finish line first, taking the checkered flag. It was a night they all cherished.

An outdoorsman at heart, Dale enjoyed summers spent fishing with his daughter and grandson, and quiet moments hunting with his daughter.

Dale spent many years driving a school bus in Eagle River before moving to Suring. There, he continued his love of driving with the Menominee Transit Company, where he built many lasting friendships. He also took pride in his work as a mechanic, especially when working on race cars with his kids, and found great joy working alongside them at the junkyard.

Dale is survived by his children: John; Dale Jr. (Kellie); Dallas; Ron; Rayna; David (Kristy); Chucky; Blain (Autumn); and April (Greg). He is also survived by Arty (Kennedy) and Tammy, who were not his biological children but whom he loved as his own.

He leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren: Brett, Chris, Kelly, Klarissa, Samantha, Ashley (Dylan), Butch Jr., Austin, Ariel, Josh, Adora (Michael), Destiny, Johnathon, Jordan, Kashlyn, Thomas (Silas), Xander, Saleena (Nate), Bryse, Logan, Hazel, Arthur, Halo, Rebecca, Travis, Shelby, Holly, Mandy, Bethany, Katlyn (Justin), Maryjane (Milton Jr.), Danika, AJ, Cheyenne, Abigail, and Cheryl.

He is further survived by his great-grandchildren: Gracie, Maddie, Zeke, Riley, Milton III, Allasyn, Barrett, Winston, Gatlin, Zay, Teyah, Brody, Briella, Axel, Malia, and Michael.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria and stepfather Joy; Dallas; his son Wayne; his brothers; grandsons AJ and Brew; and many other loved ones.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses—especially Evan—at Aurora Medical Center in Neenah ICU for their exceptional care and compassion for Dale and his family during this difficult time.
