Bruce R. Heitzkey

March 20, 1944 — February 6, 2023

Bruce R. Heitzkey, 78, a longtime resident of Green Bay, WI died unexpectedly on Monday, February
6th, 2023, at Green Bay Health Services nursing home.


Bruce was born in Green Bay on March 20th, 1944, to Romuald and Jeane Heitzkey. In 1962, he
graduated from Premontre High School, where he played football. On August 6th, 1973, he married
Rosemary Wiese from Green Bay, WI. They were married just shy of 50 years before his passing.
Bruce began his career working on the Milwaukee Railroad as a train engineer, until he left for
Germany to serve with the U.S. Army. Upon his return, Bruce worked more than 30 years for the
Wisconsin Public Service Corp. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and watching
movies and sports. He also played semi-professional football for the Manitowoc Chiefs.

Survivors include his children, David Heitzkey of Melrose, MA and Elizabeth Heitzkey of Green Bay,
WI; his grandson, Torrence Heitzkey of Green Bay, WI; and his siblings, Suzanne De Namur of
Nashville, TN, Victor Heitzkey of Suamico, WI, and Greg Heitzkey of Green Bay, WI.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Romuald and Jeane Heitzkey of Green Bay, WI, as well
as his sisters Judith Finnell of De Pere, WI, and Karen Verdegan of Green Bay, WI.

 A Celebration of Life will take place at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 W Mason St, Green Bay, WI 54303 on Friday, February 17, 2023. Visitation will take place from 2pm-3pm with service at 3pm.  Military honors to follow the service.
