Beverly J. Lathrop

September 2, 1947 — March 31, 2026

On Monday, March 31, 2026, Beverly (Bev) Jean Lathrop (Burge), loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 78. Bev was born on September 2, 1947, to William and Clotile Burge.

On June 1, 1968, she married the love of her life, Richard Allen Lathrop. Together they raised two sons, Ken (Athene) Lathrop and Mike Lathrop, and one daughter, Kristin (Phil) Turnbull. She was a doting grandmother to Evan, Emmey, Kaeden, and Kylie. Bev is survived by her three sisters, Helen (Mark) Rudolf, Ann (Jim) Pesout, and Janet (Jim) Paces. Bev was preceded in death by her husband Richard Allen Lathrop, and her parents William and Clotile Burge.

Bev was a staple of the local community for years, known for her dedication, her ability to connect with others, and her inability to say no. At First Northern Bank, she was a familiar and trusted face, providing a steady presence for countless clients over the years. However, her professional journey also included a deeply creative chapter at San Luis Manor.

As the Activities Director, Bev brought the hallways to life, leading the residents in music and song. Eventually, Bev traded the professional world for a role she loved much more. She retired to dedicate her life to her family, specifically her grandchildren. She poured all her energy into the people who meant the world to her. Whether she was babysitting, attending school events, or simply being present for life’s small moments, her grandchildren became the center of her universe.

Even with a full house, her generous heart extended deep into the community. As a dedicated member of her church, Bev spent countless hours leading and organizing the church retreats and events that brought everyone together. She also served with quiet compassion at the On the Mark Dyslexia Clinic, where her devotion provided a helping hand to students and families when they needed it most.

For Bev, traditions were the heartbeat of the home. She was the architect of family memories, especially when it came to the annual tradition of making gingerbread houses with her grandkids. She found her greatest joy simply being with those she loved. Whether she was camping in Door County or soaking up the sun on the beaches of Antigua, she embraced every moment with her ever-present smile. A talented cook and a lover of games, Bev’s home was a constant source of warmth and laughter. Above all, she was a pillar of support for her family, taking immense pride in being the loudest, most constant cheering presence at her grandchildren’s activities.

Bev lived with a heart wide open, serving her community, honoring her traditions, and placing her family at the center of her world.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Union Congregational Church, 716 S. Madison St., Green Bay, WI 54301. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charitable foundation that was near and dear to Bev’s heart.
