Judith Federer

December 20, 1944 — September 13, 2017

Judith (McCoy) Federer was born December 20th, 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Jesse and Sophie McCoy. Judy graduated from Wausau Senior High School class of 1963. She attended University of Wisconsin Madison and graduated in 1967. Following graduation she began her 32 year career working for Social Security, first in Appleton, WI; later transferring to the Green Bay office from which she retired.
Judy met Michael Federer in high school and they were married in 1968 following Mike’s 2 years of service in the Army. Their only child Terry was born in 1971. Mike passed away in 1998 in the care of Unity Hospice.
Following Judy’s retirement, she volunteered for Unity Hospice for 15 years. She had a love of learning and attended continuing education courses through retirement at UW Green Bay. Judy loved to travel. Some of her favorite places were Minocqua and Door County in Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and Alaska, Hawaii, and Ireland.
She loved her family and friends, and took care of them dearly. She will be remembered for her kind heart, generous nature, good sense of humor, class, spunk, and enjoyment of her family, reading, gardening, and a good gin martini.
She left us on September 13th, 2017 while surrounded by her family. She is survived by her son, Terry (Rebekka) Federer, grandchildren Alma and Finn, sister, Colleen (Floyd) McKinney, sister-in-law Karen (Steve) Wygralak, niece, Kelle (Joel) Hartman and daughter Riley, nephew, Josh (Aubrey) Wygralak and children Sullivan and Miriam, in addition to many loving cousins and friends.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff from Unity Hospice and Aurora Home Healthcare as well as Simply Cremation for their kindness and comforting care for Judy and her family.
