Jane Kaster

September 20, 1938 — August 30, 2021

Jane Kaster, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2021, surrounded by her family and has ascended into heaven. Jane is survived by her husband in marriage of 58 years, Joseph Kaster; their children David Kaster, Paul (Lisa) Kaster, Ann (Micheal) Rhodes, Lynn Kaster; their grandchildren Janie, Maggie, Jack, Sophia, Merrick; sister Dorinda Hunt; nephews and nieces Al (Jo) Hunt, Jordy (Julie) Hunt, Betsy (Carlin) Dornbusch; and many grand-nephews and nieces.

Jane was born Harriett Jane Harwick, the youngest of two children, to Harry and Ann (Frazier) Harwick on September 20, 1938, in Neosho, Missouri. Jane attended grade school and high school in Columbus, Kansas and continued her education at Kansas State University graduating in 1960 where she was also a member of the Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority.

After college, Jane taught fourth grade in Denver, Colorado for two years. She then moved on to work for the State Department teaching Army dependents in Bad Kissingen, Germany. It was in Bad Kissingen where Jane met and married Lieutenant Joseph L. Kaster on May 18, 1963. Jane and Joe went on to live a well-traveled life together, with their children being born in Germany, Maryland, and Kansas. They eventually settled down in Wisconsin after her husband convinced her that the winters were not so bad, and she would love Kroll’s hamburgers. Neither of which were true.

Jane loved to decorate her own home and help others with theirs, always with the motto no lace curtains! Traveling, cooking, and filling her home with family were some of her many joys in life. If you or your family ever fell ill, Jane’s world-famous chicken noodle soup and banana bread would soon be delivered to your home – still warm!

A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay followed by a brunch celebration. Visitation will commence at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m.

The family would like to thank the kindness of those at Unity Hospice.

Do not stand at this Mass and weep for Jane – She would not have wanted that.
Jane would tell you she is not there – rather she is all around you, in the wind,
in the gentle rain, the blooming flowers, the sound of songbirds, the morning sunrise,
and in the beauty that surrounds us.

So gather, laugh, and reminisce about the wonderful moments she was with us, and look at the beauty that surrounds us. Come and Celebrate Her Life.

~Exerts with generous latitude from Mary Elizabeth Frey’s poem - Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep
