Betty Jane Heideman

May 3, 1930 — February 11, 2022

Betty Jane Heideman was called home to be with her Savior Jesus on Friday morning, February 11. Her desire was to be in her home at the end of her earthly life and her Lord gave her that gift. Betty was born on May 3, 1930 in Platteville, Wisconsin to Lloyd and Marjorie Anker. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1947. She was married to Edward F. Heideman on April 17, 1949 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Symco, WI. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage. After their working careers, Ed and Betty enjoyed spending their winters in Florida and antiquing in the summer months.

Betty was dearly loved and will be missed by her children and their families: Beth (Mark) Paape, Mark (Ellen) Heideman and Jane (Steve) Schauder. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 28 great- grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents: Lloyd and Marjorie Anker, her husband Edward and brothers Allen and Claire Anker.

While raising their family Betty enrolled in the adult school of learning at UW Stevens Point and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies and a Masters in English. She then spent 18 years as a Social Studies and English teacher at Clintonville Jr. High School. Betty loved teaching and was a life-long learner. She also loved to travel and was an avid reader and Bridge player.

Betty loved her Lord and Savior Jesus and was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Clintonville where she served faithfully in many ways including: Choir, Sunday School teacher, Bethel Bible teacher, Shepherding Ministry, Prayer Chain and various Church Boards. Her favorite Bible verse is: I shall not die, but I shall live and proclaim what the Lord has done. (Psalm 118:17) Her heart’s desire and daily prayer was that all would come to know the love of Jesus and have the assurance of their eternal life.

A service in celebration of Betty’s life and eternal life will be held at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Clintonville on Sunday, May 1 at 1:30 in the afternoon. At Betty’s request, memorial gifts may be designated to St. Martin’s Lutheran Church Radio Broadcast Ministry.
