James Leistiko

December 27, 1946 — March 29, 2018

James Leistiko, 71, Green Bay, passed away March 29, 2018. Jim was born in Hudson, WI to Loren and Marian Leistiko on Dec 27, 1947. He went to school in Hudson, WI. He graduated from WITC with a degree in Accounting. He worked as an air traffic controller and later as a maintenance manager for multiple apartment complexes in the Green Bay area. He was a veteran of two tours in Vietnam serving in the Army as an Infantryman and Air Traffic Controller; he ultimately separated from service as an E7 Sergeant First Class. He was an outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed hunting and camping; but his passion was fishing and he had a special love for fishing Walleye in the waters of Green Bay.

Survivors include his children Jimmie (Brian) Leistiko-Glanzer of Bloomington, MN; John (Angela) Leistiko of Las Vegas, NV; June Sherman of Norfolk, VA; Justin (Jenifer) Leistiko of Green Bay, WI. His brother Steve (Laura) Leistiko of Hudson, WI and his sister Lorna (Waymond) Graham of Oakdale, MN. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.

Jim is preceded in death by his Father and Mother Loren and Marion Leistiko of Hudson, WI.

An informal gathering and celebration of life will take place at Sidekicks in West De Pere 4/7/18 from 1pm-4pm. It was Jims wish to not have a formal funeral or burial.

A special thanks is owed to the DeGroots; Wayne, Pat, and Lessie; for all the love and support over the years. He loved and respected you like his own family. We would also like to thank all those who have been by Jim’s side; especially during the last few years. Sister Mary, Mary Lassee, Jerry and Char, and more. He appreciated the simple things like a ride to an appointment or a cribbage game more than you know. Our appreciation to Unity Hospice and Manor Care East for caring for Jim during the last couple months.
