James Erickson

January 24, 1939 — November 27, 2017

James R. Erickson, 78, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2017 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center with his wife by his side. He had fought a yearlong battle with lung cancer with grace and acceptance of his final journey. Born in Ashland, WI, he is the son of the late Alvin and Helen (Moore) Erickson. Jim served in the US Army from 1956-1959 and was stationed in Germany. After moving to Green Bay he found employment at Paper Converting, where he worked for 39 years. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed trap shooting, gun and bow hunting, bowling, and caring for his four-legged family members. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 801 and enjoyed conversing with friends over a few beers.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Annie, Green Bay; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, John (Barb) Erickson, Green Bay, and Bill (La Donna) Erickson, Ashland; one sister-in-law, Connie Erickson; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed and David; one sister, Peggy; and one sister-in-law, Pamela Simpson.

Per Jim’s wishes there will be no formal service. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Burial at Fort Howard Cemetery. Simply Cremation assisted the family with cremation services, 431-0100.

A special thank you to Jim’s friends and family, especially his brother, John, for lifting Jim’s spirits with your visits. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Aurora BayCare Hospital 1st floor staff for all of the care and compassion given to Jim on his final days. God bless you.
