Craig Hemken

July 22, 1956 — May 28, 2018

Craig L. Hemken entered God’s house on Monday May 28th, 2018 after succumbing to diabetes complications and chronic pain.

Born on July 22, 1956 to John and Irene (Sikkila) Hemken; Craig was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1975-1981. He married Karen Krueger in Gillett, WI and are parents of two wonderful sons, Gregg and Christopher Hemken. After military service, Craig went into the field of electro-mechanical automation, and the development of industrial machines working in Arkansas and Wisconsin. At the end of his career, Craig served as an instructor at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI. During his tenure, Craig was committed to placing students into a career after college with a 100% placement rate.

Craig enjoyed numerous hobbies and interests in his life. Craig was a virtuoso trumpet player, and later taught himself the banjo. Craig also found pleasure in woodcarving, stained glass, fishing, camping, and mastering the art of cooking authentic BBQ and baked beans with his secret sauce.

Craig is survived by his loving wife, Karen, sons Gregg (Jennifer), and Christopher (Sabrina), granddaughter Devlyn, his father, John, siblings Mike, Scott, Kelly, Patrick, numerous beloved nieces and nephews along with other in-laws.

Craig is proceeded in death by his mother, Irene, his cherished grandparents Aili and Leonard Sikkila, Harm and Ada Hemken, and the best cat ever, Trixie.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you enjoy a scenic road trip with your loved ones enjoying nature. Craig would have liked that.

A graveside service will take place at a future date.
